Ingredients:

  • 1 package of Cup4Cup Pizza Dough Mix (affiliate link)
    • 1 large egg
    • 1 cup warm water
    • olive oil (for brushing)
  • fresh mozzarella balls (We used Belgioioso.)
  • pesto sauce (The ingredients below are for our homemade pesto. It makes a lot so you can store extra in an airtight container for pasta or anything else.)
    • 2 garlic cloves
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 2 cups basil leaves (I sometimes add more.)
    • 2 tablespoons of chopped pine nuts
    • ½ cup olive oil
    • ½ cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
    • 2 tablespoons freshly grated romano cheese
    • 4 tablespoons butter (softened)

Directions:

For the pesto, add garlic, oil, salt, basil, pinenuts and olive oil into the food processor. Blend until smooth. You may need to scrape down the sides once or twice. Add the cheeses and butter and blend briefly to incorporate the ingredients. Save extra in an airtight container and use for pasta (see my pesto pasta recipe.)

Follow the directions on the Cup4Cup Pizza Dough Mix package. Once the dough is ready, break the dough into 22 even pieces. Wrap one mozzarella ball with one piece of dough and form into a ball. Form all the balls into a tree shape.  Brush the tree well with olive oil, then brush generously with pesto. Add tomatoes. Bake for 20 minutes at 450° . Serve with pesto for dipping on the side.  Enjoy!
